1. Agreement and scope

These Terms govern your use of PDF Scanner, an iPhone app for scanning documents, recognizing text, editing and organizing files, and exporting documents. By installing or using the app, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, stop using the app and remove it from your device.

When you obtain the app through Apple's App Store, Apple's applicable terms also govern your download and use of the app and any Apple-billed transaction.

2. License

Subject to these Terms and the applicable App Store rules, you may use the app for your personal, lawful purposes on Apple devices that you own or control. This permission is limited, non-exclusive and non-transferable. The app's software and design remain with their respective rights holders.

You may not redistribute the app as your own product, circumvent access controls, or use the app to infringe another person's rights. Any restriction on reverse engineering or modification applies only to the extent permitted by applicable law.

3. Your content and responsibilities

You retain your rights in the documents, photos, recognized text, signatures, annotations and other content you provide. You are responsible for having permission to process, edit, export and share that content.

Do not use the app to forge documents or identity information, infringe copyrights, distribute unlawful material, or interfere with another person's privacy or security. You choose whether and where to share an exported file.

4. Automated results

Optical character recognition, receipt and business-card extraction, and object counting can produce inaccurate results. Review recognized text, amounts, currencies, contact details, page order and counts before relying on or sharing them. Results depend on image quality, language, lighting, background and source material.

Word and Excel exports are based on recognized text and do not recreate the original layout or table structure. Passport capture does not verify identity or validate passport fields. A visible signature or annotation is not a certificate-based digital signature and does not confirm identity or guarantee legal validity. Expense reports are organizational tools, not accounting, tax or financial advice.

5. Local storage and exports

Documents are stored locally on your device. The app does not provide built-in document cloud synchronization. Keep separate copies of important files. Deleting a document, losing your device or removing the app may make a local file unavailable. Backups managed by Apple may include app data according to your settings.

Exported or shared copies may remain with recipients or other apps after you remove the original. App PIN locks access to the app interface but does not encrypt every local document or exported copy. Password-protected PDF export is a separate option; you are responsible for keeping its password.

6. Third-party services

The app may open Apple's camera, file, photo or contact interfaces and may let you share files through another app. Those services are controlled by their providers and are subject to their own terms and privacy practices. Your use of those services is between you and the relevant provider.

7. Availability and changes

Features may change as the app is updated or as operating-system support changes. We may update these Terms when needed. The effective date at the top of this page identifies the current version. Continued use after an update takes effect means you accept the updated Terms to the extent permitted by law.

8. Disclaimers and liability

The app is a utility and does not guarantee error-free recognition, uninterrupted operation, recovery of deleted documents or the legal validity of edited material. To the extent permitted by law, the app is provided without warranties beyond those that cannot legally be excluded.

To the extent permitted by law, neither you nor the service is liable to the other for indirect or consequential loss arising from use of the app. Nothing in these Terms limits liability or consumer rights that applicable law does not permit to be limited or excluded.
